Talking about yourself is one of those subjects that can be cathartic for the writer but monotonous for the reader. I find it to be puzzling because as a species we are desperate to be heard, yet so few truly want to listen. Conversations between most people are an uphill battle to be the person speaking. I know I do it. To me, if feels instinctual.

So, when I think about writing a post as an introduction, I’m hesitant to dive right in. On one hand, I want to write something that is interesting and dynamic. On the other hand, I want to make sure that I am honest and transparent.

My name is Meg. I am a native Texan, I am a wife, and I am a mother of one, currently living in Tennessee. My favorite place on this earth is Leakey, Texas. After a long day, I like to have a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon (currently, I’m enjoying the Layer Cake brand, thanks to a good friend). I am a working mother and I yearn to spend more time with my little one. Like every other mom, I struggle with insecurities and doubts that linger in my head. My work schedule makes me fear that my child will prefer their nanny over me one day. Periodically, I make it to the gym and I might count my calories on a good day. But overall, I strive to be the best version of myself at any given moment. My desire is to love my husband well, to raise strong, independent, and kind human beings, and to pull my weight in our family finances.

Thank you for spending some time with me today. There is no better thrill than to walk alongside someone, hearing about their life and finding ways to connect with people. I’m glad you took the time to walk with me and I hope you enjoy my writing as much I enjoy creating it.
